Working Capital
The Working Capital Promise

At Working Capital, we believe access to funding should be simple, transparent, and designed around your business not the other way around. We’re committed to helping entrepreneurs make smart financial decisions with tools, guidance, and lending partners they can trust.

Overview

Not every small business needs the same kind of financing. An e-commerce business may need fast, flexible capital to buy inventory before a busy season, while a neighborhood landscaping company may be looking for significant loans with low costs to finance commercial equipment. The challenge is finding a financing partner whose products actually align with how your business operates.

Walmart Marketplace Capital and Lendistry offer financing for very different business communities. One platform builds fast-working-capital loans around the sales activity of a specific group of online sellers. The other opens its traditional and government-backed financing to any qualifying small businesses.

These differences can be significant when you’re deciding where to look for capital. In this comparison, we’ll look at what each offers and how the two approaches stack up.

Breakdown by Financial Product

SBA Loans

Lendistry Overview

Lendistry’s status as an SBA Preferred Lender means the lender can directly approve and fund SBA 7(a) loans, which may speed up the process. Lendistry can fund Working Capital loans and Business Term Loans of up to $350,000 in as little as five days.6 These government-backed loans require significant documentation, personal guarantees, and occasionally collateral. Borrowers should be prepared for Lendistry’s funding process to take up to 90 days.7

Businesses can apply for several types of small-business loans online. Lendistry offers SBA 7(a) Working Capital, business term loan, standard/general purpose, and commercial real estate loans.6,7 Borrowers typically need to show more than two years in business and a credit score of 650 or above to qualify, though Lendistry will consider applicants with scores as low as 620 for SBA 7(a) Business Term Loans.5,7

Lendistry sets fixed monthly payments for 10 years on most SBA loans. Terms for commercial real estate loans may be as long as 25 years. Businesses that need faster financing may secure up to $500,000 through an SBA 7(a) loan. Lendistry provides up to $5 million on other government-backed loans and up to $10 million through certain real estate programs.6

All of Lendistry’s SBA loans come with variable interest rates based on the WSJ Prime Rate plus 2%- 6%, depending on the type of loan, repayment terms, funding amount, and the borrower’s financial history.5 Lendistry doesn’t typically charge prepayment penalties on SBA 7(a) loans.6

Walmart Marketplace Capital Overview

As an MCA funding company, Capital by Walmart does not offer any SBA loans. The other lenders that partner with Walmart Marketplace also do not offer government-backed financing.1 Walmart Marketplace sellers may qualify for government-backed financing, but will have to pursue it outside of Walmart’s platform.

Business Term Loans

Lendistry Overview

Borrowers can secure fixed monthly payments for one to five years with Lendistry’s traditional term loan. Businesses with a minimum of two years of operational history and a credit score of 620 may borrow between $10,000 and $350,000, while owners with a credit score higher than 640 may qualify for up to $5 million.6,7

Lendistry requires three years of both business and personal tax returns, bank statements, and a personal guarantee as part of their application.6 How quickly Lendistry can approve applications depends on how quickly borrowers provide accurate information, but businesses can expect to see funds in three to five days after approval.5,7

Lendistry sets different borrowing costs based on the loan amount. With amounts under $350,000, term loans for business come with fixed interest rates as low as 11.99%.7 Lendistry charges variable interest rates at WSJ Prime plus 2%-6% for borrowers who qualify for amounts greater than $350,000. Any businesses looking to pay off their term loan early will pay an additional percentage of the borrowed funds, starting at 5% in the first year and declining by 1% each year.6

With terms as short as 12 months and funding amounts up to $5 million, Lendistry’s business loans can be used for a variety of investments.7 And borrowers can make the most of low borrowing costs and predictable payments when the repayment plan matches the project’s duration.

Walmart Marketplace Capital Overview

Walmart Marketplace Capital does not directly fund business term loans. But Walmart Marketplace sellers can access fixed-term loans from $10,000 to $2 million through the platform’s partnership with Uncapped.1

Uncapped offers fixed-term loans for up to 18 months for Walmart sellers with at least six months of history and $5,000 in monthly revenue. Businesses complete an online application and connect their marketplace data. Eligible borrowers may receive an approval decision in as little as 24 hours, with funding following soon after.4

These short-term working capital loans feature fixed monthly fees and flexible repayments. Uncapped charges 0.5%-1.5% of the borrowed funds each month and can sync payments with Walmart payouts over the established term.4

Uncapped’s term loans are attractive options for Walmart sellers seeking more than an MCA can provide. Still, businesses that need to finance multiyear expansion or prefer predictable monthly payments will need to look outside Walmart’s network.

Merchant Cash Advance (MCA)

Lendistry Overview

Lendistry does not offer merchant cash advances (MCAs) or any revenue-based financing. Its closest options for working capital needs would be a traditional term loan or an SBA Working Capital Loan.6 These loans feature fixed monthly payments over repayment terms as short as one year, but do require comprehensive documentation and a credit check to qualify.7

Lendistry does not have any fast funding or products geared toward businesses with limited documentation or lower credit profiles. It also does not feature any repayment schedules that flex with sales. Borrowers looking for those kinds of products will need to turn to other sources.

Walmart Marketplace Capital Overview

Capital by Walmart makes merchant cash advance loans available exclusively to third-party sellers on Walmart’s online marketplace. Sellers cannot request financing or apply independently, as Walmart’s internal algorithm evaluates each seller’s sales history and internal risk profile. Walmart Marketplace does not require credit checks, personal guarantees, or collateral, but also does not disclose other criteria.1

Qualifying sellers may receive an MCA offer within the Walmart Seller Center dashboard. Each invitation includes details on the financing amount and borrowing costs that Walmart Marketplace does not publicly disclose. Each advance comes with a single flat fee, so borrowers know the total amount to be repaid from the beginning. Walmart Marketplace does not charge late fees or incentivize prepayments.1

Once a business accepts an offer, Walmart deposits the capital into the account attached to the Walmart Seller’s Center. This funding can happen in as little as 24 hours. Walmart automatically deducts a fixed percentage of the seller’s daily Walmart Marketplace sales. The lender does not publish any term lengths, so it’s assumed payments continue until the total advance has been repaid.1

Walmart Marketplace sellers can also apply for MCAs through Payoneer to receive advances of up to 140% of their average monthly Walmart payout. Payoneer relies on a connection to businesses’ Walmart Partner ID to approve applications, set funding amounts, and determine a 1.5%-10% fee based on business performance. Qualified businesses can receive a decision and capital within a few days and repay the MCA in one-, three-, or six-month terms.2

Capital by Walmart represents easy access to flexible funding, and Payoneer offers opportunities to apply for quick MCAs for businesses currently selling on Walmart Marketplace.1,2

Grants and Special Programs

Lendistry Overview

Lendistry partners with government agencies and private organizations to support small businesses in underserved communities. Sometimes this takes the form of special financing programs, such as funding for Amazon Relay carriers or Walmart sellers, that offer affordable capital.9

On Lendistry’s online platform, businesses can also find and apply for funds that do not require repayment.9 Lendistry administers these grant programs and serves as a point of contact for other organizations, but availability and application requirements vary by provider.5

Additionally, Lendistry provides free financial education resources designed to strengthen small businesses. Owners can learn more about lending products and building creditworthiness through articles and guides.8 Businesses that partner with Lendistry can also access workshops and webinars about improving their long-term financial health.10

Pairing loan access with grand administration and financial education provides small enterprises with meaningful support and sets Lendistry apart from most term-loan lenders.

Walmart Marketplace Capital Overview

Walmart Marketplace partners with specialized lenders to give sellers access to a wider range of funding solutions. U.S. sellers can explore merchant cash advances, revolving lines of credit, and term loans through third-party providers like Payoneer, Slope, Uncapped, and Parafin.1

The main advantage these partnerships offer sellers is the ability to secure financing independently. Businesses with at least six months of history and $5,000 in monthly revenue can typically qualify for a term loan through Uncapped.4 Sellers with at least one year in business and $100,000 in annual revenue are eligible for Slope’s line of credit.3 Any Walmart seller can begin receiving advance offers from Payoneer by entering their Walmart Partner ID.2 These options give businesses more stability than relying on an invitation from a lender.

Each lending partner sets different repayment structures, funding amounts, borrowing costs, and loan terms.1 But the partnership through Walmart Marketplace means that each provider connects to the seller’s payment account and bases most or all of the approval process on actual business performance.2-4

By bringing multiple lending partners together through one Marketplace program, Walmart helps eligible sellers access and compare different types of capital without leaving its platform.1

Business Line of Credit

Lendistry Overview

Lendistry offers a non-revolving line of credit ranging from $25,000 to $3 million. Qualifying businesses can withdraw from their approved credit limit as needed for two years, with each withdrawal depleting the available funds. At the end of the draw period, businesses repay the borrowed funds in fixed monthly payments for up to five years.6

To qualify for this non-revolving line of credit, Lendistry requires at least two years in operations and a 640 credit score. Businesses must submit three years of personal and business tax returns, three years of bank statements, and a personal guarantee to apply.6

Lendistry charges variable interest rates based on the WSJ Prime Rate, usually resulting in low double-digit APRs. Line-of-credit holders pay a prepayment penalty only during the first two years.6

While Lendistry’s non-revolving line of credit isn’t as flexible as revolving products, businesses facing uncertain expenses over the next two years can use it for easier access to funds at a competitive rate.

Walmart Marketplace Capital Overview

Capital by Walmart limits its offerings to a lump-sum advance product. But qualifying sellers can access a revolving line of credit from Slope and Lead Bank through Walmart Marketplace’s platform.1

Applying only takes a few minutes after connecting a Walmart Marketplace account and completing Slope’s online application. U.S businesses with at least one year of operational history and $100,000 in annual revenue can qualify for up to $5 million in their revolving line of credit.3

Slope typically approves applications within 48 hours. Once approved, sellers can draw funds up to their credit limit, receive capital in one to two days, repay what they borrow, and reuse the available credit as they pay down the balance.3 This is what makes it a revolving product.

Slope charges rates as low as 10% APR only on the amount borrowers withdraw from the credit line, with no prepayment penalties. Line of credit holders can choose between lump-sum or installment repayments, with terms up to 180 days.3

Applying for revolving credit through Slope is simple and fast for Walmart sellers, providing on-demand capital for small businesses. But borrowers need to carefully review the terms, as the business line-of-credit lender sets them and fees independently of Walmart Marketplace Capital.1

The Capital Call

Ultimately, the better financing partner depends on how your business earns revenue, what you need the capital for, and which products you qualify for. Neither Walmart Marketplace Capital nor Lendistry is the right fit for every small business.

Walmart Marketplace Capital makes the most sense for eligible Walmart sellers who want financing tied closely to their marketplace sales and access to different types of working capital. Lendistry may be a better fit for businesses seeking a broader selection of traditional financing options, government-backed programs, or additional small-business resources.

When you choose financing that fits the way your business operates, you’re more likely to find capital that supports your next step.
